Audit the energy. Calculate the Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) to measure how much energy is used by IT equipment versus facility overhead (cooling, lighting).
A PUE of 1.50 indicates that for every 1.0 kW powering your servers, 0.50 kW is "lost" to non-IT overhead. Modern efficient facilities (Google/Microsoft) target PUEs between 1.1 and 1.2.
